Chronicles Of Reverence: X'Ho

pic12

Born in Singapore to a time where life was carefree and devoid of subliminal intrusions, X'Ho is eternally 27 and has dabbled in several projects throughout his career in the media industry. A multi tasker with the Midas touch, X'Ho has released several albums, penned his own books and even dived into the realm of film making alongside his DJ appearances on Lush 99.5FM plus places such as Stereolounge and Forbidden City, just to name a few.

Relevance Of Reverence

The Gothic/dark alternative subculture has always been about rejecting conformity while establishing an identity that is unorthodox to the public eye yet refreshing and straight to the point for like minded individuals. With this in mind, X'Ho is the undisputed godfather of the local alternative subculture and while the self professed griper is not busy breaking down the gloss of propaganda, he is at hand to release material that remains relevant and remembered until today. From his collaboration with Sue-Sue Law and Yeow to form Zircon Gov. Pawn Starz, the remarkable gothic/black metal album Baphomet Sacrum to his short films (the recent being Cum Suck My Nazi). Under the DJ Mentor alias, X'Ho has made apperances for Heart Of Darkness, Dark Friday and A Necessary Evil events under the Singapore Dark Alternative Movement and continues to champion the dark alternative cause. Through his valour, X'Ho has laid the foundation for the subculture to thrive in generations to come and despite being in no ordinary country, he has rode the lightning and lived to tell the tale

Meteoor: Interview with Cedric (Meza Virs)

As we await for Baybeats 2010 next week with Meltgsnow unleashing their wails of destruction upon the uninitiated, Meteoor this month talks to Cedric from Meza Virs as he talks about his band, personal journeys and honest insights into all things heavy and brutal

Cedric MV

Q: Growing up, what were the bands that you listened to that carried elements of the Gothic?

Cedric (Meza Virs): I never really listened to alot of true "gothic" music per se - some Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy maybe. I was always attracted to that dark mournful element they had - I found that vibe in bands like My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Nine Inch Nails even. It's that intensely melancholic, sorrowful thing which even carried over into some of the black metal i liked: Abyssic Hate..Bethlehem..old Burzum..

Q: Were you playing in other bands prior to Meza Virs?
