With V1K1 making its encore run next week and the amazing reception it received both on local and international shores, SDAM managed to catch up with the mesmerising Leanna Tan and learn about the enigma she exudes both as a person and the character she plays in the movie (Words: Dalsix)
Dalsix: Give us a short bio about yourself
Leanna Tan (V1K1): I'm Leanna, and I'm a 26 year old magazine writer. In my spare time I put my inability to keep my mouth shut to good/profitable use by acting, hosting and helping to spin fantasies. I've dabbled in a number of
things but acting remains my passion.
D: How did you come across the V1K1 project?
L: I had auditioned for the director Tzang on a previous project and amazingly enough, he remembered me and asked me if I would be interested in coming to audition for V1k1.
D: What went through your mind when the lead role was given to you?
L: My initial reaction was disbelief, followed by a rush of gratification and excitement. Sort of like, "I got it?? ... I got it!!"
D: Do you any similarities between yourself and the character that you play?
L: I think V1K1 and I are very different. She's never really had to deal with human emotions whereas my emotions party hard all night, and every day. If there was any similarity I'd say that quite unfortunately, we seem to put our trust in people who end up screwing us over in the end.
D: V1K1 is set in a futuristic setting, were you a fan of sci-fi/alternative movies while growing up?
